Balloons being release by Peter Caruana
Gibraltar celebrated its annual National Day today the 10 September.
A well behaved crowd enjoyed the official celebrations including small speeches made by each of the UK political parties and the Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Peter Caruana. As is now traditional 30,000 red and white balloons were released at the start of festivities. The crowd at casemates went on to enjoy music whilst other events included live music at Governor's parade and a family fun day at Commonwealth Parade.
Events continue into the night with a verbena and a rock concert followed by a fireworks display.

Arrested escaped prisoner (blue t-shirt)
Royal Gibraltar Police this afternoon apprehended an escaped prisoner who had been on the run since early Saturday morning. An extensive police search was conducted around the Laguna and Devil's Tower Road area. The escaped prisoner was later arrested at Ince House in Laguna Estate and transferred to New Mole Police Station where he is to be charged. He is expected to appear in Court on Monday.
It is believed that the escaped prisoner, a 19 year old British National, was being held for allegedly setting fire to a boat in Coaling Island earlier this month.
